She studied various art disciplines at Na’amat and continued her studies at the Shenkar College of Design and Art.  During that time she studied and aiso taught design, fashion, and unique fabric dying techniques at Shenkar.

She later worked as a cultural curator and taught various art disciplines and quiltwork.

Ahuva Libman has practiced quilt work for the last 35 years

In her early work, Ahuva created quilt tapestries, during which she fell in love with clothing design and patchwork art.  Her continuing education and experience in perfecting her technique are an important part of her practice.

Naturally, this approach is more complex than merely sewing a quilt.  These sophisticated techniques and focus on design can require as much as 4 – 6 months for a perfect, stylish piece.

The fun of seeing the final product is worth the investment and wait.

It all begins with an Idea

Ahuva’s process for creating a clothing item or collection begins with the design idea for the project and choice of fabrics.  Then the hard work begins with the patch design.

The process begins by creating unique fabrics – each piece based on classic designs and worked on with traditional and modern artistic techniques.   The fabrics are adjusted to the appropriate thread and then all sewn into a new, unique and interesting fabric.

The fabric is cut for the specific model.  And is integrated seamlessly with metal thread, Swarovsky crystals and organza fabrics.
